…well, sort of.
It’s all been a bit hectic overt the past 4 weeks what with the Japan Art Auction, that I deliberately avoided posting anything that got in the way of it.
So, this is my first post, post JAA, that isn’t to do with JAA. Except it is.
Because it features the work of one of the contributing artists.
When I received this piece through the post, I tore off the brown wrapping, popped a few bubbles before tearing open the bubble wrap, to be greeted by this stunning portrait.
I love the energy and emotion in this portrait. Reminds me a little of Francis Bacon – but in a positive way, not a plagiaristic one. There’s a real sense of torment in the expression coupled with the complexity of inner-turmoil captured by the frantic, erratic pen lines.
If you love it as much as I do, maybe drop him a line to commission something: Mike McGinn is based in Edinburgh, firstname.lastname@example.org
